Our research group adopts a challenge-driven approach in our interdisciplinary work spans control systems, robotics, and operation research. We tackle problems via theoretical analysis, experimentation, prototype development and case studies.
Many research projects are pursued collaboratively with academic groups at the University of Birmingham and beyond, as well as with industry – particularly start-ups.
Our research is divided into fundamental research (low TRL) and applied research (high TRL).
For fundamental and low TRL research, technical details are available in our publications and list of projects.
High TRL research demos are given below.
Demos showing some of our high TRL technologies
Robotised disassembly of a DC motor
Affordable robotic cell for battery module disassembly
Collaborative disassembly of an EV battery pack
Collaborative disassembly of an automotive turbocharger
